I used Ser Gilmore with a console command to turn him into a Rogue rather than a warrior, but Zevran and Leliana will fill this role from the vanilla game just as well. Rogue set up as a 2 handed weapon specialist. It stuns a group in place, inflicts damage, and causes no friendly fire (even without a mod.) The disadvantage, obviously, is that you have to use it carefully or you can kill yourself. The major advantage I see in using Blood Magic is that it’s multi purpose. He might make a difference, so I’ll list him. This was my first time to play in Normal Mode.Įxtra Dog Slot – Didn’t really need him, but I like my dog. I’ll be dropping that my next play through. No Friendly Fire – I wanted the monsters to be tougher, not to have to worry about setting my own party members ablaze (yet). After a half hour and trying every trick I could think of I had to cave in and use the “killallhostiles” console command. 2 mages and one 2 handed weapon skeleton would hammer me with crushing prison or paralyze me then the skeleton with the sword would kill me before I could dodge or caste a spell of my own. If a mod isn’t used on the PC, it simply doesn’t work. Healing Effects Received Fix – I don’t consider this in any way a “cheat.” This mod fixes a bug in the game which makes the healing effects received actually work the way it’s supposed to.

If you want my lists of vanilla game weapons and armor I use (plus where to find them) there’s a series of posts for that.Ĭonsequential Mods used (meaning it did something important to the game – not things like make the eyes more vibrant, add additional hair, or make the dog white): I plan on playing a similar build without any mods other than cosmetic (hair, dye the clothes, etc.) and will post on that once I play through.

As much as I love the game, after playing nothing else for over a year and 14 times in a row, I probably would have lost interest if not for mods. This was my 14th Warden to go from start to finish so yes, I did use mods. Obviously, this won’t work for the console because I did use quite a few interesting mods. Here are my thoughts on playing a modded blood mage.
